Week 7 - My sister in law phoned me this week and said that my photo blog was becoming like every Mom's facebook page, once they bought a digital SLR camera. Pictures of their kids using various different photo techniques. I have to say with all honesty capturing a shot in focus, with narrow depth of field of your 2.5 year old where you can see her eyes but she isn't looking directly at the camera is not as easy as it seems.
Based on my sister in law's feedback I headed out of town for a couple of hours on Saturday and shot some pictures. We have had more fog in Calgary giving everything a nice coating of hoar frost, but I was lucky enough that some blue skies came out.
Picture #1 - An old style windmill, with a hay field coated in hoar frost in the foreground.
Picture #2 - Same windmill but from a different angle. All the willow trees are coated in hoar frost. I converted this to black and white. It looks like lots of the infrared pictures that I have seen, but is just a normal picture converted to B&W.
Picture #3 - An old pump jack with the some spare counter weights laying down in foreground.
Picture #4 - Same pumpjack with more of the surroundings. This is my favoite of the week.
Picture #5 - I purchased a vari ND filter and finally got around to trying it out. For the non photography people, it is a dark piece of glass that makes you use a long shutter speed that allows things in motion to be blurred.
Picture #6- A valentines picture for this last Sunday.
Picture #7 - I am going to sneak one picture in to the Blog of Carolyn climbing through a tunnel. Although it is mostly tunnel and not much Carolyn.
All the shots this week were natural or indoor lights (no flashes or strobes added).
